Baseball

Every prompt will center around the game of baseball. Read the prompt and finish the story. As you will see below the prompt is a file you can download. Download this file, print it out and write your story, or download the file, fill in the story, and save it.

Now write your story based on these prompts and see if you can come up with a good surprise ending. There are no wrong answers. All you want to do is let your mind wonder, use your imagination, and let the words flow.

  1. Try outs for the summer baseball teams were the day after tomorrow. This year, so everyone had a better chance, instead of dividing the teams into boys, and girls, then by age, they decided to group players together depending on their skill level. This way a child who was seven could play with 11-year old kids, if good enough. The kids were judged on skills in running, catching, throwing and batting; and anyone who tried out, would be put on a team. One of the kids, Michael, 10, was such an awful player, the coach didn’t know what to do…..

  2. Tracy’s brother Paul, played baseball on his company’s team. He was a great pitcher, and Tracy and her friends always went and watched him play. Paul loved showing off for the girls, especially Allison, Tracy’s best friend. He had a crush on her, and thought she liked him too. One afternoon, he was pitching, and as usual the girls were cheering him on. He threw a pitch, momentarily looked up, and caught the eye of Allison.   3. Stu and his crowd were hard-core baseball fans. They watched the games on TV, and attended as many home games as possible, but always sitting in the bleachers. The local radio station now was having a contest, and the winner would get four season tickets for the sport and team of their choice. This was an opportunity to good to pass up, and all he had to do was fill out entry forms located at some sporting good stores. Stu and his friends went around filling out as many as possible. When the day came to announce the winner, they all gathered, and held their breath as the winner was announced…..

  4. Wayne and Jean were lucky enough to get seats right next to their team’s dugout. Die-hard fans, they went to all the games, and finally could afford to sit in the “good” seats. Their team was having a good season, and had a strong possibility of being in the play-offs. At today’s game, the mood was positive, the fans were having a great time, and even the atmosphere in the dugout was happy and optimistic.
